Trauma - Informed Yoga & Meditation

Hamilton & Waikato

At Maarama Wellness, we offer gentle, trauma-informed Yoga, meditation and other holistic modalities designed to support self inquiry, emotional resilience, mental clarity, and physical wellbeing.

Our practices are slow, intentional, and deeply nurturing helping you to reconnect with your body & mind, unravel deep seated stress & tension, and access a sense of inner-resourcefulness and calm.

The Good Room is our home base - a cosy, tranquil space where you’re invited to relax, feel supported, and come home to yourself.

My journey with Yoga deepened after becoming a mother, during a time marked by exhaustion, overwhelm, and postpartum depression. Yoga became a lifeline - it gave me a home in a body that naturally became foreign to me through motherhood. And most importantly, revealed that caring for others starts with caring for myself. More than just movement, it became a pathway to deeper meaning and purpose in life.

I love the more subtle and quieter practices including meditation, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and mindful breathing. These practices support me to connect with myself and notice what I’m carrying, what I need to let go. My desire is to live more open and whole-heartedly and to share kindness and compassion to others. But to do this starts with extending that same attitude towards who I am. I ground myself in the concept that you can only meet others as deeply as you have met yourself. and further, when you work on you - everyone benefits!

I offer gentle, accessible yoga sessions that support mental and emotional wellbeing through a body-based, trauma-informed approach. My key areas of teaching are Restorative & Yin Yoga, gentle flow, and meditation with from the lens of poly-vagal theory, neuroscience, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and yogic philosophy.
