My journey with Yoga deepened after becoming a mother, during a time marked by exhaustion, overwhelm, and postpartum depression. Yoga became a lifeline - it gave me a home in a body that naturally became foreign to me through motherhood. And most importantly, revealed that caring for others starts with caring for myself. More than just movement, it became a pathway to deeper meaning and purpose in life.

I love the more subtle and quieter practices including meditation, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and mindful breathing. These practices support me to connect with myself and notice what I’m carrying, what I need to let go. My desire is to live more open and whole-heartedly and to share kindness and compassion to others. But to do this starts with extending that same attitude towards who I am. I ground myself in the concept that you can only meet others as deeply as you have met yourself. and further, when you work on you - everyone benefits!

I offer gentle, accessible yoga sessions that support mental and emotional wellbeing through a body-based, trauma-informed approach. My key areas of teaching are Restorative & Yin Yoga, gentle flow, and meditation with from the lens of poly-vagal theory, neuroscience, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and yogic philosophy.

A Review from Google

“Finding Maarama yoga studio has been quite literally life changing for me. Kayla's classes transform not only your body but also mind and spirit. Kayla is very genuine and authentic in her teachings and she is so warm, welcoming and deeply caring which makes every week easy to show up. Her classes are a beautiful combination of restorative breathwork, meditation and dynamic flow and because everything is an invitation during the practice you can meet yourself where you are on that day. Kayla holds an incredible amount of yoga and trauma-informed-practice knowledge which is a reason why her classes are so powerful and healing. I highly recommend!” - Natasha
